ALTENBURG RITA M. of Brighton died peacefully Tuesday, March 9, 2010 on her 94th birthday. Rita was a local Brighton business woman for over 32 years as the owner of The Quaker Shop on Hyne St. Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband Reed Joseph Altenburg (d. 1974). She is survived by her children Gail (Barry) Van Tiem, Stephanie (Philip) Garcia, Robert (Peggy) Altenburg, John (Margaret) Altenburg; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother Donald Holsapple and sister-in-law Miriam Jones. Roy had courageously battled Parkinson's Disease for many years. Born in Bright-lingsea, a seacoast town in England. Roy was an avid sailor both in England and America.  BARRUS CATHERINE "KAY MARIE" (NEE O'HARA) Age 90, of Walled Lake, passed away March 8, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Loving mother of Nancy Bognar and Frank (Connie) Barrus. Doting grandmother of James (Jennifer) Bognar, Janet (Lance) Irey, Steven (Kathy) Bognar, Dawn and Michelle Barrus and Shannon Chesney. Proud great grandmother of 10. Kay Marie was the glue that held the family together. She was a generous and fun loving person. Miss personality plus with a big smile for everyone. In later years she found great joy in going to the casino. Kay Marie had a long career as a manager of Carl's Chop House in Detroit where she became acquainted with many dignitaries. She was a member of the Walled Lake Eagles and a lifetime member of the VFW. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
